Not to pat ourselves on the back or anything but we think we have some pretty amazing and talented Vets working in the Maraboon family. Our Vets have completed many years of study and then many further education courses throughout their years of being vets to continually expand their knowledge and skill set to be able to provide the very best care possible for all our furry friends.

To become a Veterinarian in Australia, the completion of an undergraduate or post graduate degree in Veterinary Science is required. Depending on the university, it can take from 5 – 7 years of very hard theory work as well as many hours of unpaid practical placements to complete their studies. Becoming a Veterinarian is a very rewarding job, however the ‘ups’ do not come with their fair share of ‘downs’ and our Vets have to navigate very difficult and devastating situations and conversations with our amazing clients.

The Veterinarian industry sadly has one of the highest suicide rate within Australia. All of our Vets have hearts of gold and only want the best possible outcomes for every patient that comes through our doors. With that being said we wouldn’t change our profession for the world. All we try to achieve each day is that more and more people are made aware of the stresses that other people are going through each day. Everyone is always fighting their own battles that we may not even know about. In our industry we as a clinic can be devastated from an early morning Emergency that has sadly not made it, then we need to pick ourselves up and walk into the first consult for the day with big smiles to help an adorable little puppy with their vaccinations.

We recommend checking out this amazing Ted Talk by Dr Melanie Bowden who thoroughly describes a normal day in the life of a Veterinarian as well as some very practical ideas on how to improve some of these issues within the Veterinary Industry. https://www.ted.com/talks/melanie_bowden_dvm_what_being_a_veterinarian_really_takes?language=en

The industry is full of its ups and downs and everyone in the Maraboon Team does everything possible to make sure it is more ups then everything else. We rally together when there are difficult situations and we greatly appreciate our amazing clients when they recognise that we may have had a rough time before they have arrived and also support us through those times.

Our staff are amazing and you can find out more about them by visiting our ‘staff‘ page on our website at  https://www.maraboonvet.com.au/our-staff
