Benefits of Boarding your Pet while Travelling in Queensland

We are very excited that we have been given the freedom to travel within our beautiful state of Queensland. Especially now with the September school holidays fast approaching!

Many cat and dog owners believe that using a cattery or boarding kennels to board their furry friends will be too stressful on the animal and therefor prefer to leave food and water at home and have a sitter or friend check up on their pets. But have you considered why boarding your pets might actually be the less stressful option?

Dogs are pack animals and if you can’t be home, placing your pet in a boarding kennel allows them the chance to play with other dogs and interact with other humans. They will be much happier and far less lonely in a boarding kennel. Cats also love human company. Even if your cat is not the cuddly type, they tend to want some interaction. Having a pet sitter come in for only a short period each day will only encourage your cat to hide and therefore not get the interaction it requires.

Cats are also known to be very stressful animals. The fact that you are away from home and have left them in their empty house may be enough to stress your cat out. This can result in them not eating and urinary tract infections, which if they are only being checked quickly once every day or two, these signs can go left unnoticed and develop to further issues. The staff at Maraboon Pet Resort are highly trained to detect these things early and take appropriate measures to correct it before the animal becomes ill. Cats are very good at hiding illness’s, so even with the most vigilant house sitters, they can often go unnoticed until the animal is quite unwell.

The cattery has built in ventilation and a split system air-condition to keep the room at constant and comfortable temperature, with both standard and Luxury cubbies available. We spray every kennel with the cat calming pheromone Feliway prior to their arrival, and also have a diffuser on 24/7.

We offer our canine guests the chance to roam both indoors and out. In addition, our guests sleep in large kennels with premium luxury beds, and we even have “luxury suites” available. There are also additional extras available like grooming and fun-filled doggy day care.

The Maraboon Pet Resort is a sister company with Maraboon Vet Surgery and has a Vet on call 24/7 for your piece of mind. If your pet needs medication at specific times, has a special diet, or health concerns, you can feel at ease knowing our highly trained staff are monitoring your loved ones while you are away.

Dogs and cats can become very lonely when you’re not there, even if a sitter is at your home. How lonely? So lonely that they take their loneliness out on your furniture, drapes, even your carpeting they can also bark for hours on end upsetting your neighbours. By placing your dog in a great boarding kennel, you can return home from your holiday just as you left it – neat and not destroyed or covered in unfriendly notes from disgruntled neighbours.

The Maraboon Pet resort prides itself on service, value for money and state of the art facilities.
